Analyzing a Short Story with Literary Criticism & Research For your first research paper in this course, you will analyze one of the short stories from Modules 1-4 using the thesis statement and research from Modules 2-3 that you completed.

Your research paper must cover one of the following short stories: “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe Assignment Requirements: Your research paper must be argument-based and centered on the selected short story and one of the literary criticism approaches discussed earlier in the course and use research to support your arguments. The paper should include the following elements:

Thesis Statement: Your thesis statement should be a clear argument that incorporates one of the schools of literary criticism. It should be developed based on your analysis of the chosen short story and should guide the rest of your paper. Length: The paper should be approximately 1,500 words in length. Academic Style: Follow the Modern Language Association (MLA) Style for formatting and citations. Required Sources: Use a minimum of three peer-reviewed secondary sources in addition to the primary source (the short story itself). Each source can be cited up to three times in your paper. Required Elements:

Original Work: Your research paper must be original work created specifically for this course. Submission: Submit the final polished draft of your paper as a .doc or .docx file.
